Logging in
Most of the imagery is only available to logged in users. To login, you must have valid a UTORid.
Log in using UTORid by clicking on 3rd icon in row of 5.
Contributing Images
If you have been granted access to contribute imagery, follow these steps to create a new image.
From the user profile page, reached either as soon as you log in or accessible from by clicking on “Account” in left menu.
Click on "create a new image"
On the following page:
- Enter title
- Enter the visibility
- Unlisted = default selection for new slide images. These slides will not be part of the search results but will still be reachable with direct URLs when published
- Listed = listed slide images will be added to search page lists and results
- Exam = this selection is similar to unlisted but will also hide metadata related to the image when viewed
- Click on "add media".
Before uploading images:
- Ensure that .svs file does not include slide label containing patient info.
- If .svs includes this from digital pathology platform at hospital, edit .svs in Aperio Imagescope prior to uploading.
On the modal that opened:
- Choose either "zoomable image" or "image".
- "Zoomable image" is chosen for .svs files but can be used for photos that you’d like to have zoom capability for
- "Image" is chosen for photos, radiology images etc
- Either drop into “drop a file here” box or browse to find image
- Click on "Insert selected".
Click on "save and select" to add more images or click on "Save and insert".
After clicking on "Saving and insert", you will return to the previous form.
- List names of contributors (format should be Hojilla, C., Nixon, P.)
- Choose appropriate stain type
- List type of IHC or special stain used
- Enter diagnosis (as per most recent WHO classification)
- Enter clinical history (short presenting history)
- Enter case discussion
- Enter age
- Enter gender (from drop-down list)
- Enter organ system/discipline (from drop-down list)
- Enter disease category (from drop-down list)
- List keywords
- Keywords will be matched as search terms, but will not be displayed.
- Check the tick "approved" box after obtaining appropriate approval from supervisor(s)
- Save as:
- Draft if still working on contribution
- Ready for review if ready to submit
- Click “save”
After saving, you will see your submitted images under "Ready for review" and "My contributed images" on your profile page. Once approved, image will show under “My contributed images” only.
Approval will be granted by members of the DLM Faculty Committee.
Saving images to Favourites
When logged in, you can track a personalized list of "Favourite" images available only to your account.
Adding Favourites
To add an image to your favourites, click on heart icon within image.
Viewing your Favourites
Click on heart icon in left menu to see your list of favourites.
Creating lists
Lists allow users to create lists of images, displayed in different ways.
From the user profile page, reached either as soon as you log in or accessible from by clicking on “Account” in left menu.
- Click on "Create a new list".
This will take you to the "Create a list" form. On this form:
- Click on "Select images"
- Enter search terms into filter or scroll through images
- Click on "Select images"
- Enter title of your list
- Change visibility to "listed"
- Enter description of your list
- Enter "Collection type". Options are:
- List: which displays the zoomable images and metadata for each image, one after the other
- Layers: which displays a single zoomable section, but each image is superimposed as layers
- Comparison: which displays the zoomable images next to each other but the pan and zoom controls are synchronized
- Enter “Save as” type. Options are:
- Private: creates list for you only
- Public
- Request to make public (*to be used in most instances, certainly by residents)
Once saved, the list can now be found under "My Lists" on your the profile page.
